First Life

Oregon poem One

sour sea of green choice of mortal metal

brains

choose larval forms in which to front

large colic eggs under red bunting

when growth discovers the mark

cancerous curses

heave from the black oily soil

proud the birthing mother to suckle

bewildered progeny

build nest under the pumping

eco-system

gasses mixed with decadent

hyperbole
