Cowichan Valley, BC 5/17
lonely tree perched
above Canadian immigrants
unfazed
SALT BLAST
dialect of the pre-historic ascetics
who scrawled peasant wisdom
on cliffs of sharp rock
desperation
hunger pangs deep as shoreline crevice
what made the elevation tower
above the liquid
what capricious sea-dweller
magic tones
configured the sound
the toil
to haul the precious water
upward
in crawly skin containers
yet most is salt!
in bowls of laughter
dropped the femurs of giants
mingle among
the stone walruses crumbling at anchor
mewls of fish above surface tension
they whine
then disappear
into literature of squalls
strewn driftwood frenzy
